A New York private equity firm has purchased a Michigan-based restaurant chain. That chain, bd's Mongolian Grill, was sold for an undisclosed amount by founder, president, and CEO Billy Downs to Kinderhook Industries, as reported by Crain's Detroit Business.
The first bd's was opened in 1992 in Royal Oak. Today, restaurant veterans Rodger Head and Clyde Culp are hoping to use their industry savvy toward an aggressive expansion. Currently, the brand has 33 locations in 11 states, as well as a franchise in Mongolia.
