Landmark San Diego Restaurant Struggling
May 7, 2008

These are not good times for one landmark San Diego restaurant. Chuey's Numero Uno in Barrio Logan is in bankruptcy, with the city as one of its creditors. The restaurant's owners owe the San Diego Redevelopment Agency $400,000 for their property, which opened at its new location in summer 2002.

Though payment was slated to begin this August, Chuey's filed for bankruptcy protection last October. The restaurant's attorney told the San Diego Union-Tribune that the current plan is to keep operating while the owners figure out their financial picture.
