After eight years of brokerage and portfolio administration for Nissan North American Inc., CB Richard Ellis Inc. has entered into a five-year contract to be the exclusive real estate services provider for the auto giant. CB Richard Ellis will deal with non-manufacturing facilities only.

CB Richard Ellis will begin its tenure with management of five facilities totaling 1.5 million square feet and a 450,000-square-foot headquarters currently under construction at Nissan’s Franklin, Tenn., headquarters. The HQ is scheduled to open next year.
In total, CB Richard Ellis will provide transaction management, portfolio administration and project management for 31 Nissan properties across the country, including the five facilities to be managed in the initial phase. The regional sales and marketing offices, call centers, parts distribution facilities and service training centers comprise 4.2 million square feet.

The Nissan-CBRE working relationship has spanned eight years already, peaking with Nissan’s 2005 decision to move its North American headquarters from a Los Angeles suburb to a 50-acre site just outside of Nashville. According to a CPN report from the time, Nissan already had a manufacturing plant in Smyrna, Tenn., and an assembly plant in Decherd, Tenn.

CB Richard Ellis managing director Nigel Poland and alliance director Vince Dunavant will lead the team in the United States and Japan.
